A rather pleasing and quirky child’s chair dating to the early 19th century.  The chair dates to around 1800-1820 and is from a Cornish estate near Truro, probably made by the estate carpenter.  The hand drawn spindles are motrices through the hoop of the chair characteristic of West Country chairs.    The chair has had a ‘life’ and two of the legs have been historically replaced, but quite some time ago, probably in excess of 100 years ago.   The colour is particularly pleasing and we like the charm and quirkiness of the piece. Traces of the original green paint can still be seen.

Measuring:  height to back 45 cm, heigh to seat 22 cm

Cornwall, England, 1800-1820
