An original 19th century study of an English Pointer standing in reeds in graphite and watercolour
A well-observed 19th century study of an English pointer standing alert in reeds, executed in graphite with watercolour. The landscape is handled in pencil with confident, fluid strokes , while the restrained use of colour draws the eye to the subject and gives the composition a pleasing sense of focus and immediacy. The dog wears a collar with a brass name plate as would have been in the mid 19th century.
Housed in it's mid 19th century mahogany frame.
Measuring: (Sight) 18 cm x 17.5cm. (Frame) 23.5 cm x 22.5 cm x 2.8 cm
