A portrait of Robert Brudenell, 6th Earl of Cardigan, from a Northamptonshire country house

An 1837 portrait of Robert Brudenell, 6th Earl of Cardigan which is after a painting  that hung at Deere Park, Northamptonshire, the family seat.    

Robert Brudenell, 6th Earl of Cardigan (25 April 1760 – 14 August 1837) was an English peer and Member of Parliament. His son, the 7th Earl, led the Charge of the Light Brigade.

At the bottom the details of the subject, Robert Brudenell, are recorded and the fact that the original, which this artist painted this watercolour of,  hung at Deene Park.  Sadly the artist’s name cannot be deciphered but the date of 1837 is clear.

It remains in its original frame with vibrant colours.

Provenance: Recently removed from a large Northamptonshire 8 bedroomed country house.
