Early 18th century French oak wingback armchair
Dating to the early 18th century, this substantial French wingback armchair has reassuringly honest wear and patination to the turned oak stretchers and carved arms consistent with 300 years of use.
The chair is wide at 86 cm across the arms, and retains a very comfortable and deep cushion. Reupholstered long enough ago for the wear to show through the upholstery, the chair has a rather nice feel throughout.
Re-tipping to two feet, and wear commensurate with age. Slight lateral movement in arms, but not significant.
Measuring: 86 cm width across arms, 50 cm to top of cushion. 118 cm height to back and 92 cm deep.
French, c, 1730
