Early 19th century hand coloured engraving of a lady ‘The Thistle of Scotland”
A hand coloured engraving in the original frame and with the 19th century glass. The figure of a lady is entitled : “The Thistle of Scotland” and was published by John Fairburn of 110 Minories, London. Fairbuirn operated as a printer at 106-110 Minories around 1840. Fairburn was also a map, chart, bookseller and print publisher. He was made bankrupt in 1810 but must have bounced back as he continued trading in nearby locations within the City of London.
To the back is a label:
”Late 18th or early 19th century print (hand coloured). Original frame. (Similar series - see comment reverse of ‘Fortitude” . Bought from a house at top of Croft Road in the 1970s (£2)”
In delightfully original condition.
