A Victorian broadside relating to execution of George Nunn in 1899. The broadside contains ballads around this, and other murders, which is typical of the Victorian period.
Eighteen year old George Nunn was a young labourer convicted of the murder of Mrs Eliza Dixon, the butcher’s wife, at Wrotham near Diss, Suffolk in July 1899. He was tried at the assizes at Bury St. Edmunds.
Mercy was requested on account of his age but he was hanged by James Billington in Ipswich on the 21st November 1899.
Housed in a period frame, unglazed. The broadside has had a number of tape repairs over the years.
