Naive watercolour of Dr Phillips of Malpas c 1830
A naive waterolcour of a gentleman holding a riding crop. His rather distinctive nose draws the eye. Did he perhaps like a tipple and this caricature of this depicts that, or perhaps he just had a rather large nose. Whatever the case, this utterly charming watercolour.
With old backing paper saying 'Dr. Phillips, Malpas'
Measuring: (unframed) 24cm x 31cm
British, c. 1830
